A filter apparatus (10) comprises a housing (18), a filter element (14), and an anti-drainback valve (24). The anti-drainback valve (24) comprises a support member (92) and a valve member (30) coupled to the support member (92) for movement between a normally closed position blocking a flow of fluid out of the housing through an inlet formed in the housing and an opened position allowing a flow of fluid through the inlet into the housing.
