The present invention relates to the field systems and methods that allow for two-way telematics applications, where the term telematics refers to the transfer of data to and from a moving vehicle. The invention also relates to a method of unlocking a vehicle with a radio receiver (214,216) that has a unique alpha-numeric identification name associated therewith, comprising:
sending a first signal (245) to a satellite digital audio radio system (106,252) indicating that a vehicle with a receiver (214,216) with a unique alpha-numeric identification name is locked;
sending a radio signal (254) from said satellite digital audio radio system (106,252) to said receiver (214,216) of said vehicle, wherein said radio signal (254) is unique to said unique alpha-numeric identification name; and
unlocking said vehicle upon receipt of said radio signal (254) by said receiver (214,216) of said vehicle.
