A device (1) serves to assemble rail clamps (4) and is comprised of two opposing tool levers (5), which are mounted on a tool frame (6) in a transverse direction of the machine or of the track by means of an add-on cylinder (7) and which can move around a swivel pin (17) of a lever bearing (11, 12). The lower end (8) of each tool lever is provided with a pressure element (9, 10), which is provided for coming into contact with a rail clamp (4). Each tool lever (5) has a first and second lever bearing (11, 12), which are interspaced in a transverse direction (15) that extends perpendicular to pivot axes (13, 14). These enable any desired extent of pivoting about the first or second pivot axis (13, 14).
