A liquid crystal display is provided comprising a front panel (103), a rear panel, and a liquid crystal layer placed between the front and rear panels (106). At least one of the front and rear panels comprises an internal polarizer (301) situated between an electrode (104) and a substrate (103) in the panel. The internal polarizer is made of a highly temperature durable material that is chemically stable at an elevated temperature of at least 150°C.
