The invention relates to a fuel injection device (10) for an internal combustion engine, comprising two valve elements (16, 18), each of which is provided with a hydraulic control surface (32, 34) that is effective in the closing direction. A hydraulic control chamber (38) is assigned thereto. Additionally, a control valve (72) is provided that influences the pressure in the control chamber (38) while impingement units (20, 22) are provided which can act in the opening direction of the valve elements (16, 18). The hydraulic opening pressures of the valve elements (16, 18), which occur in the control chamber (38), are different. According to the invention, at least three different pressure levels can be adjusted in the control chamber (38) by means of the control valve (72), all valve elements (16, 18) being closed at a relatively high pressure level, one valve element (18) being open at an intermediate pressure level, and all valve elements (16, 18) being open at a relatively low pressure level.
