An apparatus for chipping or crushing, with a high speed of rotation and mass inertial moment, comprising a chipping disc or a rotor, a short circuit motor and a frequency converter connected to the current circuit of the motor. The frequency converter is arranged to control the frequency of the motor current based on data of the speed of rotation of the chipping disc.
