The invention relates to a method and a device for treating tubular textile materials (1), e.g. circular knitted fabrics, so as to apply chemicals, textile auxiliaries, dyes, or similar by continuously feeding the tubular material (1) into a horizontal frame (5) comprising a liquid bath via a material reservoir (2) and redirecting the tubular material (1) to a tensioning mechanism (13, 14) with an adjustable gap width to the circular expander (16) of an annular suction nozzle (17) via an adjustable guide roller (12). According to the invention, homogeneous and reproducible effects with a high degree of penetration of chemicals, textile auxiliaries, and dyes are obtained on textile material by providing a minimal liquor content in the horizontal frame (5), creating long dipping distances of the web of material (1) over and underneath the guide rollers (10) in order for the bath to better penetrate the top face and bottom face of the web of material, carrying out an intermediate dewatering process in the tensioning mechanism (13, 14) while optionally adding small amounts of bath, annularly expanding the tubular material on the circular expander (16), and carrying out a final dewatering process with the aid of the annular suction nozzle (17). The liquid withdrawn there is reconcentrated and redirected to the liquid bath.
