The invention relates to the use of water-soluble or water-dispersible polymers as additives in mineral building materials. The inventive polymers are obtained by polymerization of the alkoxylated derivatives of 3-allyloxy-1,2-propandiol with ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acids, the anhydrides, esters or mixtures thereof and optionally with one ore more other ethylenically unsaturated monomers C.
