A power transmission belt having a body (10) with a length, an inside, and an outside. The body has a plurality of teeth formed on the inside (16) of the body and spaced along the length of the body (10). The body (10) has a first surface (26) at the inside (16) of the body (10) defined at least in part by the teeth. A cloth component (30) has a first side attached to the first surface (26) and a second side exposed to engage a cooperating pulley. The cloth component (30) has first fibers at the first side of the cloth component with a first performance characteristic and second fibers at the second side of the cloth component with a second performance characteristic. The first side of the cloth component has different properties than the second side of the cloth component by reason of the presence of the first and second fibers.
