The invention relates to a cooling apparatus, especially a refrigerator or freezer, comprising at least one supporting bottom (10) that is located in the cooling chamber of the cooling apparatus. The inventive cooling apparatus is characterized in that an insert (20) is provided which is movable relative to the supporting bottom (10) and forms the surface of a unit encompassing the supporting bottom (10) and the insert (20) in at least some areas in at least one position.
