The invention relates to a household device, in particular, a dishwasher(1), comprising a washing container (4) which can be closed by a pivotable door (3), a control panel (2) wherein control elements (6) and/or display elements (7) are arranged behind a vitrified surface (9 - 11 ) and can be activated by touching the surface (9 - 11 ). According to the invention, the vitrified surface (9 - 11) can be embodied in an optical manner such that the optical properties thereof can alternate between transparent and intransparent.
