The invention relates to a hydraulic motorcycle braking system, in which the pump suction valve (25), which is situated in the braking circuit that does not contain the isolating and change-over valves (19, 20), has a higher opening pressure than the pump suction valve (24) which is situated in the braking circuit provided with said isolating and change-over valves (19, 20). As a result of the invention, pressure oscillations initiated during the start-up of the pump cannot have a retroactive effect or only have a slight retroactive effect on the actuated brake master cylinder (13 and 7).
