The invention relates to a protective device (10), especially for hand-held power tools comprising a disk-shaped and rotating tool (12), and a base (14). The protective device (10) is characterized by an energy-absorbing element (16) which is coupled to the base (14) via a coupling that is stationary in a normal mode of operation and that allows at least one rotational movement of the energy-absorbing element (16) relative to the base (14) in an emergency mode of operation.
