A vehicle discharge lamp (8) is provided with an outer tube (18), an arc tube (19) disposed within the outer tube (18), and a pair of electrodes (22) disposed within the arc tube. The arc tube includes a light emitting portion (20), and a pair of pinch seal portions (21). Molybdenum foils (23) are sealed in the respective pinch seal portions (21). Each of the electrodes (22) includes a sealed portion (28) sealed within the pinch seal portion (21), a projecting portion (29) projecting into the light emitting portion (20), and a welding portion (30) welded to the molybdenum foil (23). A concavo-convex part is formed on the sealed portion (28).
