The invention relates to a method for resetting a set of source points (S) in a reference image representing an organic tissue and a set of destination points (D) in a current image representing the deformed organic tissue. Said method involves the determination of a resetting function (R) by iterative minimisation of a resetting energy Ereg, the resetting function corresponding to a transformation enabling transfer from the source points of the reference image to the corresponding destination points (D) in the current image. The invention is characterised in that the resetting function (R) is an elastic resetting function satisfying the conditions that ensure that the physical criteria of the organic tissue are met, the conditions being: the Jacobian of the elastic resetting function is higher than 0, the resetting function is continuously differentiable, and the resetting function is bijective.
