The invention provides for a locking device (10) for a container, said locking device (10) including attachment means (12) for releasably attaching the locking device (10) to a part of a closing mechanism (14) of the container, wherein the closing mechanism (14) includes a substantially elongate portion (16) and at least one end zone (18), a channel (20) for receiving at least a part of the substantially elongate portion (16) of the closing mechanism (14) of the container; and a hook (22) engagable with the end zone (18) of the closing mechanism (14) of the container, wherein the hook (22) is shaped and dimensioned to inhibit the rotation around a long axis of the elongate portion (16) of the closing mechanism (14) of the container.,
