The invention relates to a shelf storage system (1, 1', 1", 1'") comprising shelves (R1, R2, R3, R4) having a plurality of shelf levels (RE) arranged on top of one another. Each shelf level comprises at least one aisle (G) between the shelves having storage spaces for products (P). A level operating device (S) for moving to the storage spaces is provided in the aisle (G). At least two lifts (L1, L2, L3, L4) take products (P) to the shelf levels (RE) and pick products up from there. A conveyor (F) transports products to and from the lifts. Each of the lifts (L1, L2, L3, L4) is connected to both a feeding and a removing conveyor (F) and thus designed to both receive products (P) from the conveyor (F) and feed said products to the shelf levels (RE) and to remove products from the shelf levels and transfer said products to the conveyor.
