The invention relates to a man-machine interface (MMI) having an operating and display device (BAG) for a military management system, comprising a display for displaying a selection menu, which consists of nine check boxes (6, 7) in 3x3 arrangement, and a 8-way switch (3) on the operating and display device for marking a checkbox (6), wherein the 8-way switch (3) marks the central check box (7) in the starting position thereof, and from the central checkbox (7) one of the eight other check boxes (6) can be marked with just one movement (click).
