The invention relates to an elongate hollow body (1) for controlling parasites in a bird house, comprising at least one opening (15) in the wall of the hollow body (1) for receiving the parasites in the interior of the hollow body (1), and a means for killing the parasites, arranged detachably in the interior. The means can be activated in a predetermined manner and emits electromagnetic radiation.
