The invention relates to a method for operating a track-bound vehicle (10), wherein a track-side device (40) detects the presence of the vehicle-side train control device (20) by sensing a signal (S) which is emitted by a vehicle-side train control device (20) of the track-bound vehicle (10), and the track-side device (40) transmits to a control device (60) an information signal (IS) which indicates the detection of the vehicle-side train control device (20). Furthermore, the invention relates to a track-side device (40) and to an arrangement having such a device.
