The invention relates to a novel process for the thermochemical conversion of a carbon-based feedstock to synthesis gas containing predominantly hydrogen (H
2 ) and carbon monoxide (CO). According to the invention, it comprises the following steps: a/ oxycombustion of the carbon-based feedstock to create a cogeneration of electricity and of heat; b/ high-temperature electrolysis (HTE) of water starting at least from the heat produced according to step a/; c/ reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction starting from the carbon dioxide (CO
2 ) produced according to step a/ and from the hydrogen (H
