The invention relates to an electrical energy storage module, having at least one storage cell stack (7; 7a; 7b) that comprises a plurality of energy storage cells (10; 20) each having respective electrode elements (2) and a cell housing (1). The electrode elements (2) are electrically connected to a respective one of two cell terminals (1a; 1b) formed on opposite side faces of the cell housing (1), and the plurality of energy storage cells (10; 20) are arranged serially in the storage cell stack (7; 7a; 7b) in such a way that in each case two cell terminals (1a; 1b) of adjacent energy storage cells (10; 20) of differing polarity are electrically connected flush with one another.
