Furthermore, means (7) for adjusting the axial position of the spring plate (6) are provided. The invention further relates to a method for the pressure regulation in a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine, in particular a Common-Rail injection system, in which a pressure regulation valve is used having a valve closing element (3) admitted by the spring force of a spring (4) in the direction of a valve seat. According to the invention, the spring force of the spring is variably adjustable, wherein the setting is brought about by an adjustment of the axial position of a spring plate (6), on which the spring (4) is supported in axial direction.
