A control apparatus for a vehicle (10) is provided. The vehicle (10) includes an engine (12), a first electric motor (MG1), a rotary member (26), and a rotation lock mechanism (36). The rotary member (26) is provided between the engine (12) and the first electric motor (MG1). The rotation lock mechanism (36) is configured to prevent a coupling portion (26a) of the rotary member (26) on the engine side from rotating in at least one direction. The control apparatus includes an electronic control unit (90). The electronic control unit (90) is configured to learn characteristic associated with an input torque of the rotary member (26) by applying a torque to the rotary member (26) by the first electric motor (MG1) and measuring a twist angle (Φ) of the rotary member (26), with the rotation lock mechanism (36) preventing the coupling portion (26a) from rotating.
