The invention relates to a method for releasing a first brake device (102) which is actuated by electric motor for a vehicle (101), wherein, in the applied state of the first brake device (102), a second brake device (103) for the vehicle (101) is actuated in a brake application direction, in order to generate a predefined brake application force at a brake piston (6) which is assigned to the first brake device (102) and the second brake device (103) jointly, and wherein the first brake device (102) is actuated in a release direction before the second brake device (103) achieves the predefined brake application force.
