Method of fire protecting an expanded polystyrene (EPS) material, the method comprising providing the EPS with a two layer structure applying a bromine-free fire inhibiting agent or a bromine-free fire protecting agent layer to the EPS, where the compound constituting the fire protection layer comprises above 8% by weight of a composition comprising N- and P- components thereafter applying a second layer comprising a protective polymer.
