The printing cartridge comprises a material cartridge (12) which is configured to hold printing material, a trough (14) configured to receive the print material and a control valve device (18) configured to transition between an open configuration and a closed configuration, wherein in the open configuration an outlet opening received at least partially in the trough device is in fluid communication with a cavity of the material cartridge such that the print material may be output into the trough.
