The present invention provides an additive for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery positive electrodes, which can improve the electrical conductivity of electrodes, decrease the resistance of electrodes, and increase the use efficiency of cation species such as lithium ions, sodium ions, various quaternary ammonium salts, and phosphonium salts.
An additive for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery positive electrodes, comprising a carbonaceous material having a specific surface area as determined by the BET method of from 1,000 m 2 /g to 2,000 m 2 /g, a micropore volume as determined by the DFT method of less than 0.60 cm 3 /g, and an oxygen content as measured by elemental analysis of 0.5% by mass or more and less than 1.3% by mass is disclosed.
