Disclosed is a weighing device (1) comprising a chassis (2), a load cell, and a weighing pan (14) functionally coupled to the load cell. The weighing device further comprises a locking device (3) adapted and configured to selectively fix the weighing pan relative to the chassis of the weighing device. The locking device may be used to fix the weighing pan relative to the chassis of the weighing device prior to placing objects onto the weighing pan and prior to removing objects from the weighing pan, so as to inhibit inducing swings of the weighing pan, impulses and shocks on the load cell, and other detrimental effects by loading and unloading the weighing pan. Further disclosed are a system comprising the weighing device and a method for weight determination.
