PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interference pigment comprising, as the base, a flaky transparent substrate having low-refractive index and having strong color shift, which new interference pigment is provided for use in paints, coatings, printing ink and plastics as a dopant for laser marking of plastics and paper, provided as additives in food and medicinal field, and provide for use in cosmetic compounds. SOLUTION: The interference pigment comprises a transparent low-refractive index flaky substrate as the base, and has a high-refractive index coat comprising TiO 2 having 20-200 nm layer thickness and optionally an outer protective layer. And use thereof for coloring seeds for paints, coatings, printing inks, certificate printing inks, plastics, pastes for buttons, ceramic materials and glass as dopants for laser marking of plastics and paper, use for additives for laser welding of plastics, use for coloring additives in food and medicinal fields and use in cosmetic compounds, or use in preparing pigment compositions and dried preparations are provided.
