PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing an azoline compound from an aminochalcogenide, and a carboxylic acid, a carboxylic acid ester or nitrile, in high selectivity and efficiency. SOLUTION: A method for producing an oxazoline compound expressed by a reaction scheme of formula (1) in the presence of a compound containing group 12 metal element of the periodic table is disclosed as an example. As a raw material ester compound, methyl benzoate is cited as an example. The azoline compound expressed by formula (3) (wherein R 1 , R 3 to R 6 represent each an alkoxy group, an amino group or the like; Z 1 represents each O, S or Se) can be obtained by selecting an aminochalcogenide reacting with the ester compound.
