PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst and a process for ammoxidating an unsaturated hydrocarbon to an unsaturated nitrile corresponding thereto.
SOLUTION: A catalyst composition to be used herein contains a complex of a catalytic oxide that contains potassium, cesium, cerium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, iron, bismuth, and molybdenum at a specific element relative ratio, but does not substantially contain manganese and zinc. The catalyst is useful for a process for ammoxidating an olefin selected from the group consisting of propylene, isobutylene, and a mixture thereof to acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, or a mixture thereof in a gas phase at an increased temperature and pressure.
