The image display apparatus includes a display panel including a light emitting element formed in a pixel area defined by intersection of a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of data lines, the display panel being configured to display an image by controlling the light emitting element, a discharger configured to perform a discharge operation of the plurality of scan lines by time-division control with respect to a discharge line connected to the plurality of scan lines in the number less than the plurality of scan lines, and a controller configured to control the light emitting element and the discharger.
