Specifically, various techniques and systems are provided for efficient setup of a acquired device on a network using information generated by a new network device source entity. More specifically, exemplary embodiments of the present invention include methods and systems for receiving, at a computing device connected to an established network device on a network, an acquisition communication including an indication that a new network device has been acquired; transmitting data to the established network device, wherein the data includes identification information associated with the new network device; receiving a join query, wherein the join query includes a request to authorize the new network device to join a network; and transmitting a response to the join query, wherein the response includes an authorization for the new network device to join the network.
