The method includes: obtaining, by an electronic device, a touch event triggered by a user on a touchscreen, where the touch event includes a touch position of a touch point; if a target area in which the touch position is located is in a first touch area, determining, by the electronic device, whether the touch point is an accidental touch point, where the first touch area is located on the touchscreen of the electronic device; and discarding, by the electronic device, the touch event when the touch point is an accidental touch point, or reporting, by the electronic device, the touch event when the touch point is not an accidental touch point.
