The splices are disposed at axially spaced positions within a hollow, flexible conduit. Fibers of the trunk segment are axially fixed at a first demarcation region disposed at the first end of the conduit. Fibers of the pigtail segments are axially fixed at a separate, second demarcation region disposed at the second end of the conduit.
