Document processing systems for modifying image data are provided. A representative document processing system includes an image enhancement system that is configured to receive image data as well as information corresponding to a request for modification of the image data. In response to the request, the image enhancement system modifies the image data, such as by increasing contrast between the foreground component and the background component and altering lightness of both the foreground component and the background component.
