The invention relates to compounds of the general formula (I), as defined, and to pharmaceutical compositions containing them. The compounds of formula (T) are inhibitors of various lipid-related enzymes. They can be used in reducing accumulation of sphingolipids and thus in the treatment of lipid storage diseases. The compounds of formula (I) can also be used for the treatment of cancerous diseases and for killing of wild type and drug-resistant cancer cells.
