Each sustaining electrode is made up of a transparent conductive thin film, is provided with a main electrode portion formed in stripe shapes so as to face the discharge gap and a metal film of which a width is narrower than a width of the main electrode portion, and a sub-electrode portion formed at a side opposite to the discharge gap side of the main electrode portion which corresponds. With this configuration, a high image quality and a low power consumption can be obtained.
