A heating device is provided with a flameless heating unit for active heating of at least a part of the riser channel area. The heating unit is placed inside a piston rod leadthrough bore, electrically insulated from the riser channel in a riser bore containing the riser channel, or in a heater receiving space specially provided in the casting container.
