Abstract:
A method for making a lithographic printing plate support includes the steps of providing an aluminum support; graining the support in a graining electrolyte solution; and treating the grained support in a desmut electrolyte solution containing hydrochloric acid by applying a direct current resulting in a charge density Q; wherein the desmut electrolyte solution has a pH less than 1 and Q is at least 400 C/dm2.
