A display apparatus in which a plurality of light sources emit light to a pixel includes a correction unit configured to correct a luminance distribution of a display target image or a light emission distribution obtained when the plurality of light sources emit light at a certain light emission intensity so that an interval between the luminance distribution and the light emission distribution is increased; and a control unit configured to control an amount of light emitted from each of the plurality of light sources based on the luminance distribution or the light emission distribution corrected by the correction unit.
