Abstract:
Provided is a liquid crystal display device which not only protects user's privacy but also improves a display quality of an image when a display is viewed from the front. According to a liquid crystal display device (1) in accordance with the present invention, in a first display period, a light source controlling section (5) controls a backlight (3) to emit light having a given intensity, and in order to display a given gradation in a first region which is a part of the image, a gradation voltage generating section (6) applies a voltage which is in accordance with the given gradation, and in a second display period which is different from the first display period, the light source controlling section (5) controls the backlight (3) to emit light having a lower intensity than the intensity of the given intensity of the light emitted in the first display period, and in order to display the given gradation in a second region which is different from the first region, the gradation voltage generating section (6) applies a higher voltage than the voltage applied to display the given gradation in the first region.
