A method and apparatus for reducing inter-cell interference in a radio communication system are disclosed. A method for reducing inter-cell interference includes determining REs of a downlink subframe of a first cell overlapping with CRS transmission REs of a downlink subframe of a second cell, determining a portion of REs of the downlink subframe of the first cell overlapping with CRS transmission REs of the downlink sub-frame of the second cell as punctured REs, mapping one or more downlink channel to the downlink subframe of the first cell other than the punctured REs, and transmitting the one or more downlink channel mapped to the downlink subframe of the first cell to a UE.
