Methods and apparatus are provided for receiving, by a user equipment (UE), signaling providing an indication of a set of one or more subframes in which a set of resources are non-usable for one or more functions performed by the UE, or determining of the set by the UE, and excluding the non-usable resources when performing the one or more functions. Methods and apparatus are provided for identifying, by a base station (BS), a set of one or more subframes in which a set of resources might not be suitable for one or more functions performed by a user equipment (UE) and transmitting signaling, to the UE, providing an indication the set of resources are non-usable in the one or more subframes for the one or more functions performed by the UE.
