The iron-based piping element (1), in particular made from cast iron, for a buried pipeline, includes an outer coating (9) including:a first layer (11) having at least one porous layer of zinc/aluminum alloy containing 5 to 60 wt % of aluminum;a second layer (13) of adhesive situated on the first layer (11); anda third layer (15) situated on the second layer (13) and including a synthetic organic material. The method for manufacturing such a piping element is also described.
