A method and system for self-interference cancelation in a wireless communication device. The wireless communication device can include a first interference detector, a second interference detector, an interference canceler, and a controller. The first interference detector can be configured to detect interference in a received signal. The interference canceler can be configured to perform one or more interference cancelation processes on the received signal. The second interference detector can be configured to detect interference remaining in an interference canceled signal processed by the interference canceler. The controller can be configured to enable or disable the interference canceler based on the detection of the first and/or the second interference detectors.
