One of the first electrode and the second electrode includes a plurality of branch electrodes extending in an extension direction parallel to the gate line, and the other one of the first electrode and the second electrode has a planar shape. The liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal layer has negative dielectric anisotropy.
