Yet further provided is an implantable device for enhancing spinal fusion including a prosthetic implant configured to stabilize and promote the fusion of two adjacent vertebrae, wherein the bone tissue contacting surfaces of the prosthetic implant are coated with a composition comprising an insulin-mimetic agent.
