In one aspect, a method of wireless communication is disclosed. The method includes determining, by a wireless node, a control channel monitoring constraint based on a first condition. The method further includes monitoring, by the wireless device, one or more control channel candidates at a control channel monitoring occasion, wherein a maximum number of the control channel candidates within a resource unit or a maximum number of non-overlapped control channel elements within a resource unit satisfies the control channel monitoring constraint.
